Jonah’s Cafe opening soon!

Next Friday 15th July we have planned to open our Jonah Cafe for one afternoon of business. 1.30-3pm.

We are hoping our friends and family will drop by for a drink or snack for the cost of a few pennies.

We will be selling home made produce. All designed and made by us (under the watchful eyes of Miss Irwin and Miss Sherliker).
After our successful business venture at May Day we are still reeling with excitement to raise funds for our classroom and school. We are like little Alan Sugars! We have a business plan and are ready to make some cash for iPads, barbies, Lego, scooters and books.

Please comment on this blog if you think you will be able to pop in and see us that afternoon.
Love Class Jonah.

Four fantastic days

Firstly Miss Irwin would like to say thank you to all the parents who came to parents consultations. It was great to meet you all and tell you how wonderful your little cherubs are.

Here’s what we’ve been up to this week.

Monday was RE with Mrs Armitt can you tell what we have been learning about?

Monday afternoon was PE. We had to perform our own gymnastic routine which had to include a jump, balance move and a roll.

On Tuesday we learnt our new sound ‘v’.

To write v we go down, stop, then go back up.As part of our topic we started writing letters to the Pirates and putting them into a bottle.

On Wednesday we did a secret activity with Mrs Armitt even Miss Irwin doesn’t know what it is. So watch this space.

Here’s a clue…

We also practised recognising teen numbers 13,14,15. We looked at big number squares to look at patterns in numbers. We played this game called number splat. Follow the link to play it at home.

Number splat
Today we created our own number hunt with the number 16. We wrote the number then split into to teams to hide them for the others to find. It was great fun!

Today we learnt our new sound ‘w’.

This afternoon we had French with Mrs Oakes and practised our colours. We listened to Twinkle, twinkle little star. Then we helped Mrs Oakes decorate her picture with her stars. Then we made our own stars.

After French we had time with the iPads to see if we can remember how to use the iPads. Our targets were to turn on the iPad, enter the code, find the APP and play bee it APP. If you have an iPad at home you could get it for free.

When we found it we could get it at home for free we fainted with shock!

After completing our targets we did some choosing and some of us kept playing on the iPads.

As you can tell from our hairy friend we have been using busy things APP. One of us created him on our busy things APP. Miss Irwin discovered him in the saved photos. Pretty cool isn’t he. 😀

Mrs Hamilton’s birthday, writing words and of course sharks!

On Friday it was Mrs Hamilton’s birthday. In Class Jonah when it’s an adults birthday we always have cake. Mrs Ainscough brought it in and we sang happy birthday to Mrs Hamilton. We had a guess at her age, some guesses were older than our grandparents! Mrs Hamilton wasn’t quite sure about those guesses.

In phonics we learnt to write letters together to write words. We all wrote ‘sat’, we showed them to Miss Irwin and she fainted from shock. We had to wake her up! She couldn’t believe how clever we were.

Take a look…

In the afternoon, we made a sea and pretended to be sharks. We read ‘shark in the park’ outside and scared Mrs Riley through the window. She thought we were real sharks, she almost called the shark exterminator!

Letter to Santa

After our Santa camera arrived we have had a lot of questions on our mind. Such as – where does Santa go when he’s not watching us? How do we know he sees everything?

Well the proof came in a letter. It said he was watching us and Incase we forgot he sent a poster to remind us. He also sent Miss Irwin a naughty or nice app on her phone to check which list we were on, it scans our finger print.

We decided it was best to write him a letter asking him our questions and to add in what we really wanted for Christmas under our trees.
