Sad news and a funeral 😢

The morning of our return to school, we had some bad news. The smaller duckling had an accident and died after it had jumped out of its carry box and hurt itself.

After some sad moments we decided to make sure we’d look after the one duckling that was left. To celebrate the ducklings time on earth we decided to have a funeral and write some prayers.

Some of us wanted to read our prayers out. We used the steps as our pulpit like the big ones use in church.

Year 1’s and Duck dancing!

This morning we got to go and see Mrs Hodder again in Class Moses. We got to finish all our display work ready for September, we had some circle time getting to know each other and then we learnt why our new class name was Moses and learnt a little bit about the story of Moses.

This afternoon we were learning our duck dance for Wind in the Willows. We had competitions between boys and girls dancers and scored each other on our score cards. So far the girls are winning but with practise we think the boys maybe able to beat the girls, watch this space.

Tomorrow we will be seeing Mrs Hodder in the morning then coming back to class in the afternoon for more duck dancing!

Class Jonah’s reinactment of the Easter Story

On Tuesday we talked about the Easter and what Easter meant and what we got at Easter. We then talked about the story and what we thought it was about. Lots of us knew some things about the Easter story. Miss Irwin showed us a story on the whiteboard that was made from Lego people.

It showed how Jesus went to Jerusalem on a donkey and all the people waved palm leaves at him and were excited to see him. Then we saw how Jesus’ friend wasn’t kind to him and that people plotted against him to kill him. We learnt Jesus was put on a cross and died. Then he was put in a tomb. But then a few days later when they checked in the tomb he wasn’t there! Then we heard how Jesus was still seen around helping people and he had come back to life. After that then he went to heaven with an angel. It was a lot for us to try to understand. But with a bit of role-play and some props we made a few of us rein acted the Easter story as we think it happened.

Please watch our story.
Video coming soon.

RIP little Fergie

Unfortunately class Jonah had some bad news. Last night little Fergie the chick died, he just wasn’t strong enough to survive. It’s been a little bit upsetting for some of us today especially Miss Irwin.
The class decided they wanted to bury Fergie. So we made plans of what to do.
This afternoon we had a chick funeral. Some of us made a cross with Miss Kippen and some of us wrote a prayer with Miss Irwin. We buried him, said our
Prayer and put a special stone on his grave.

He’s up in chick heaven now running around watching over us and we know that because Romeo saw the sun come out as soon as we buried him.
RIP Fergie.
