Sad news and a funeral ๐Ÿ˜ข

The morning of our return to school, we had some bad news. The smaller duckling had an accident and died after it had jumped out of its carry box and hurt itself.

After some sad moments we decided to make sure we’d look after the one duckling that was left. To celebrate the ducklings time on earth we decided to have a funeral and write some prayers.

Some of us wanted to read our prayers out. We used the steps as our pulpit like the big ones use in church.

Duckling funeralย

Unfortunately when the ducklings hatched one didn’t survive and past away.

Miss Irwin explained to us why it had died. When it was born it had some of its tummy on the outside. It’s body wasn’t strong enough to survive.

Some of us wanted to look at the duckling. Miss Irwin said we could as long as we didn’t touch it and we thought about it carefully. As a class we discussed and shared our experiences of our pets that had died. We talked about heaven and God and what we would like to do with the duckling. We gave it a name and wanted to send it to heaven. So we decided to bury it.

We wanted to write a prayer, dig a grave and pick some flowers. So that’s what we did.

A great first Sunday for the ducklingsโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฃ

The ducklings had all dried out by mid-morning. Now almost 1 day old they were ready to start exploring.

First they met George and Buddy. They were a bit scary! So they ran away.

Then they had a play in the sunshine.โ˜€๏ธThey kept eating and drinking alot. They were so hungry they even tried to have some of Stuart’s breakfast! ๐Ÿ™€

After eating they did some paperwork by helping Miss Irwin with her planning. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸผThen this afternoon they went to play at Mrs Irwin’s house and met some new friends.

After a busy first day it was early to bed as its their first day at school tomorrow.

Night night.
