Easter Egg hunt and the Easter Story.

The school council had planned an Easter egg hunt for us! Had Miss Irwin been a bit quicker she might have got more photos of us finding the eggs, but she doesn’t work at warp speed!

After our hunt we heard the Easter story and decided our parts for the church service on Friday. We are doing the first part of the story. Can you guess which part by what we’ve been making?

Class Jonah’s reinactment of the Easter Story

On Tuesday we talked about the Easter and what Easter meant and what we got at Easter. We then talked about the story and what we thought it was about. Lots of us knew some things about the Easter story. Miss Irwin showed us a story on the whiteboard that was made from Lego people.

It showed how Jesus went to Jerusalem on a donkey and all the people waved palm leaves at him and were excited to see him. Then we saw how Jesus’ friend wasn’t kind to him and that people plotted against him to kill him. We learnt Jesus was put on a cross and died. Then he was put in a tomb. But then a few days later when they checked in the tomb he wasn’t there! Then we heard how Jesus was still seen around helping people and he had come back to life. After that then he went to heaven with an angel. It was a lot for us to try to understand. But with a bit of role-play and some props we made a few of us rein acted the Easter story as we think it happened.

Please watch our story.

Easter story

We started our Easter celebrations in church on Sunday with a parade down School Lane to St Mary’s for the Easter Service..

There was some fabulous hats for the Easter bonnet competition, it was hard to choose a winner.

On Monday in school we made Easter biscuits and Easter gardens with Mrs Armitt.

On Thursday it was Easter Day in school, as organised by the school council. With an Easter egg hunt on the field in the morning. Photos taken by the Council members on Miss Irwin and Class Jonah’s new ElitePad.

In the afternoon it was the ‘Eggfactor, with some decidedly strange celebrity judges!  Some of us entered the competition and got some great scores. Jacob’s brother Daniel was a runner up, the winner was Amy.

Happy Easter everybody. Have a great half term.
