Reminder: trip tomorrow

Tomorrow morning we go on our trip to Tesco.

We will be looking around the store and learning about where food comes from. After we will be spending our money in the shop.

If you didn’t return your child’s slip last week please make sure you bring it tomorrow morning.

Money left in school from Stockley Farm will be used to buy something tomorrow. If your child’s money was not left in school and you want them to buy something, please send them in with money tomorrow.

Many thanks,

Miss Irwin

Stockely Farm trip

A brilliant trip today to Stockley Farm. We learnt about horses, cows, sheep, pigs, goats, wild animals and the equipment the farmers use with these animals.

We learnt loads of cool facts. Please look through the photos with us and get us to tell you about them. You could ask us about Debbie the cow and Gladdis the pig or how to milk a cow and fed baby goats. Why not ask us if we can remember what size in Hands we were- were we a pony or a horse?

Unfortunately the shop was closed but Miss Irwin is making plans for us to visit somewhere else so we can practise using our money. Watch this space!

Trip to the fire station

On Tuesday morning we went to Congleton Fire Station.

We met Fire Officer Rich who answered our questions and showed us around.

He explained Fire Officers help put out fires and make sure people are safe in their houses by checking smoke detectors. He told us to check our Smoke detectors at home to make sure they work.

He also told us about the Jaws of life that they use open up cars when people may be stuck inside.

We learnt a Fire engine has a tank that holds the equivalent of 20 lots of bath water. He showed us how to check how much water is in the fire engine.

We were allowed to hold the hose pipe.
There are grids on the floor with an F and H on them, which stands for fire fire hydrant. Near it is usually a yellow marker post to help the Fire Brigade find them. The hose pipes can reach 1000 metres.

We guessed how many hose pipes there were on the engine. There were 14 hoses .

Fire men live near the station in case an alarm is raised. They work 4 days and nights on. Then get 4 days off.

Fire Officer a Rich showed us a Hooligan tool. They use it break doors open.

He showed us his helmet and the inside of the engine.

Outside we saw the special engines that are used to pump out water when there are floods they have wider hoses – 20cm wide.

Last but not least we could see the car that the officers use to practise their jaws of life on.

Thank you all our helpers who drove us and stayed with us. We couldn’t have gone without your help. 👍

What a day we had! Thank you to all the adults who came along to help us. 😀

Help with Travel Agent trip

travelagents

Dear Parents,

I am still hoping to hear if there are any volunteers to drive us to the travel agents on Monday 15th in the afternoon. Remember volunteers do not have to be mum’s or dads they can be relatives or friends of the family who are willing to help.

We would need you to come to school for just after 1pm and stay with us probably until half past 2-2.45. If you can help when we get back to school, I would let you and your child go home early on our return. 😉

Please can you let Miss Irwin know if you are free to help ASAP. We need 4 cars and drivers.

Many Thanks.

The Borrowers

A very excited Class Jonah set off this afternoon to enjoy their first annual school theatre trip.

There were so many questions we wanted answers to about the Borrowers…
• How are they so little?
• Why do they live under the floor?
• Do they like crickets? What is a cricket?
• Do birds eat Borrowers?
• Do we have Borrowers in our house?
There were plenty more. So we might ask you them at home.

Miss Irwin would like to report how well we sat and watched, even if we did find the story a little hard to follow at times! Maybe it was the promise of interval biscuits that helped! 😃

Well done Class Jonah.

Trip to Glebe Farm next Wednesday afternoon

glebe farm official
To carry on with our learning of coins and how to use money, Miss Irwin would like to take us to spend some money. We are going to go to the farm next week to practise our coin recognition and counting skills. If there are any mummies, daddies or grandparents who are free next Wednesday the 7th at about 1.30 we would appreciate the adult help with walking over and to keep us company for an hour.

We will need to bring some money with us to have an ice cream- £2.00.
The money can be given to Miss Irwin on the day and she will put it in an envelope with our name on it.
