We had a great trip to Tesco this morning. Tracey and Wendy looked after us very well.

We got clipboards and had to go on fruit and vegetable hunts. Then we had to decided how these fruit and vegetables were grown.

Then came the really good but- food tasting.

Did you know

  • Watermelon seed were found in the tombs in the pyramids!
  • Pineapples grow from the ground like a cabbage!
  • Kiwis come from China- they are named after the bird on the national flag of New Zealand.
  • Sharon fruit- tastes like sweet apples!
  • Avocado it’s called the alligator fruit because of its skin!

We were all give. A Tesco bag of goodies and a piece of free fruit. Then we went off to spend our money.

Stockely Farm trip

A brilliant trip today to Stockley Farm. We learnt about horses, cows, sheep, pigs, goats, wild animals and the equipment the farmers use with these animals.

We learnt loads of cool facts. Please look through the photos with us and get us to tell you about them. You could ask us about Debbie the cow and Gladdis the pig or how to milk a cow and fed baby goats. Why not ask us if we can remember what size in Hands we were- were we a pony or a horse?

Unfortunately the shop was closed but Miss Irwin is making plans for us to visit somewhere else so we can practise using our money. Watch this space!

Duck eggs, food tasting and building houses.

No we haven’t lost our marbles. It is true. We are incubating duck eggs in the hope some may hatch to give us ducklings! 😃

We got them last Thursday but we needed to check the incubators worked before we got too excited. But the good news it is. So now we can start to count down the days until their arrival. We are not allowed to touch the eggs, but we can look at them and check to see if the temperature is ok. So watch this space.

This last two days we have also been completing our targets of recognising coins. Here we are finding them in the bubbles. We have all tried really hard to remember all the different coins. We all got our targets. Yey!

This afternoon we had french with Mrs Oakes and learnt the names for all the people from the Enormous Turni in French. We could tell you about them as our pictures are in our bags.

After playtime Miss Irwin told us we had a suprise, we love surprises. The Thing is it wasnt really a good suprise for some of us!

It was taste testing with the story Oliver’s  Vegetables. We had to try spinach…

beetroot

cabbage

EditSweet peas

and Rhubarb. Some of us liked them all. ï»¿ï»¿

Edit

Some of us didn’t. But we tried them all, which Miss Irwin was very proud of us all for because If you don’t try you don’t know!

For the rest of the afternoon most of us were on a mission to build some tree houses.

Glebe farm visit

This afternoon we walked over to the farm to gather information For our topic and learn about farm shops and farm animals.

First we went into the shop to see what they were selling.

Then we gave Hannah the money for our animal food bags and tractor ride and set off to the tractor.

We spotted the lamas, ponies and the church.

After the tractor ride we got to feed tge animals. Thete was cows, pifs, goays, donkeys, chickens abnd new baby lambs.

We were very lucky because they let us feed the baby lambs.

onmoyrbway back to school we fed the lamas.

It was a great hour spent at the farm and we came back with some good ideas for our farm.

Thank you to all those mummies who came to help. We hope you enjoyed it too. 😃

Stockley Farm trip- letter

On Thursday we came home with our Stockley Farm trip letter.

On the trip we will see a few of these

Please return the slip and money ASAP  for the trip. It’s a bit cold on the farm so we will definitely need our jumpers and coats.

The gift shop has things to buy such as small toy animals, tractors, badges, key rings and other similar things. It would be good for the children to get the chance to use money as we have been practising recognising coins in maths. If you would like them to get a gift Miss Irwin would like them to bring no more than £3.

Chickens ✅

As part of our farming topic we read a farm story this morning. The Great Chicken Mystery. It’s all about how some chickens go missing and foxy ( who’s a vegetarian) gets blamed. He finds out the chickens are escaping because they want a bigger home.

After discussing how farmers look after chickens, we went to the allotment to see the school chickens. Miss Irwin told us how she hatched some of the chickens in class Jonah. You can check the old blogs to see more details about them. Just search chickens.

We looked at where they lived, what they are and drank and how they were kept safe. Then we let some out to have a close look. We really enjoyed looking at them and learning about how to keep chickens.

This afternoon we got chance to enjoy our topic by being farmers. We made food for the lambs, tidied up the farm and re-stocked the farm shop with our new vegetables. Thanks for that mummies.

Farming

Today we came back to school to our new topic of farming. We had a look at our new Farm shop and farm outside and got straight into our new responsibilities of mucking out, making duck ponds and obviously shopping.

There were a few stray sheep we had to keep our eyes on! ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿The lack of money in the til was a bit of a problem. ï»¿

After playtime we had heard the Feiry had flown into the play ground. We went to see if not was true and found money scattered all around the place! She’d heard we had no money for the shop and had brought us some! Our target this week in maths is to learn about coins and what they look like and how to use them in the shop.

This afternoon we started our new P.E subject- a Rugby 😃 . We got to learn how to play tag rugby by wearing Velcro belts and tags. It was awesome, we loved it.
