When practising formation and number orders Miss Irwin thought why not bring our everyday maths into the classroom. So we watched Strictly come dancing!
We loved giving our own scores for the dances. Why not try it with us at home?

On Tuesday morning we practised forming the letter ‘a’ in our phonic lesson. Then Miss Kippen and Miss Irwin had a surprise for us…outside phonics. We got to use squirty bottles, big chalks, ribbons and paint brushes.
After playtime we had a number hunt from Percy. He’d left hidden numbers around the playground for us to find. Some of us even thought we had seen him through the window.
After that we used our new colourful playdoh to make our own Gruffalos.
These last two days at school we have been working hard at following our routines and sticking to our class rules.
We are doing really. We are also doing really well in our learning time. We’ve learnt p and i . We have even begun to write and read words with all our sounds in.
It’s amazing how we do it… We put the letters together, then blend them and it makes a word!
We have also been practising counting up and down to 10 and writing all the numbers correctly. We will be going to 20 soon because we are all so clever!
In the afternoons we’ve been enjoying exploring and trying new things from mixing colours…
…making friends and sharing our summer books
And of course figuring out how to solve problems, like how to get snakes out of trees!
