We had a great trip to Tesco this morning. Tracey and Wendy looked after us very well.

We got clipboards and had to go on fruit and vegetable hunts. Then we had to decided how these fruit and vegetables were grown.

Then came the really good but- food tasting.

Did you know

  • Watermelon seed were found in the tombs in the pyramids!
  • Pineapples grow from the ground like a cabbage!
  • Kiwis come from China- they are named after the bird on the national flag of New Zealand.
  • Sharon fruit- tastes like sweet apples!
  • Avocado it’s called the alligator fruit because of its skin!

We were all give. A Tesco bag of goodies and a piece of free fruit. Then we went off to spend our money.

Back to school with a bang! πŸŒ‹

Today we came back to school full of excitement and raring to go. We started by learning our new sound ‘r’ it’s so easy to do! Why not get us to show you how we can write it in words like rat and robot.

We also started learning about ‘flat 2D shapes’. Our job this week is to spot different shapes around our school. Like this rectangle we found outside.

Just before lunch we learnt about how dinosaurs might have died, there were lots of different ideas. We looked in books and learnt that maybe Volcanoes might have exploded and killed some dinosaurs!

To find out what this might have looked liked we did a science experiment. We mixed bicarbonate of soda with vinegar and a bit of fairy liquid and food colouring. It was supposed to bubble and froth up but the vinegar lid didn’t stay in the bottle when Miss Irwin squeezed it! All the vinegar shot out which created an explosion! We all screamed with excitement because it went everywhere! It was so awesome! In the afternoon we tried to redo the same experiment but it didn’t explode as much when we did it! It was fun getting messy though.

Jonah Town

It’s been 3 weeks in the making but today we final finished our vision of Jonah Town.πŸ‘πŸΌπŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ™€β˜€οΈ
For our topic we have been leaning about different buildings. We learnt about different types of houses and had a lesson where we learnt to drawer our own houses. Then we learnt about different uses for buildings. Some clever spark had a bright idea to build a town so that’s what we did!

We planned out buildings to go in our towns. Everyone had to have a different building for a different use.

Then we collected our junk with help from our friends and families. Using the boxes and tubes we made our buildings (with a little help from the odd adult and our buddies). After they were constructed we painted them and added our final details.

The town outlines all came together after careful planning- thinking about how we’d make roads, if we’d have trees, cars, people, traffic lights and street lights. We used our resources and toys to make these things then gathered everything together. Then today when nobody was looking we built a whole town on the playground all by ourselves!
Ta da!
