Planting up and investigating

On Tuesday afternoons we get time to check out beans and this week we planted them up into their pots.

With our scientist brains switched to full power and our jackets on we set to drawing and recording the next part of if our beans growth.
We recorded the date then had to find our beans to see what they had done!      We could see some of our beans had started to grow already!         We could not believe how quickly they had grown in soil. webthink they might be massive by next week. You’ll have to read the blog to see!

May Day babies!

Today we checked the duck eggs to see if there were any ducklings growing inside. We could see tiny little peanut shapes inside some, with burns going to it. We checked our calendar and we think they are due to hatch on or around May Day!

We have to keep our fingers crossed though and remember to pray for them.

This afternoon we also looked at our beans to see how they were growing. They have started to sprout roots!

So as scientists we investigated them with our magnifying glasses and started to record their growth in our Bean Diaries.  Today we drew what our bean looked like and labelled its root.

Miss Irwin says we need to plant them in soil now to give the bean food to grow bigger. We will be doing this tomorrow.

We learnt our new sound ‘air’ today. It’s very tricky to remember these big sounds so please can you practise writing it with us at home and putting it into words and sentences.

On Tuesday morning we read some letters from Kenya and looked for questions they were asking us. We talked about questions and what goes with a question at the end of a sentence. We learnt about question marks and what they look like.

We had a go at writing them. We put them in our bags to show you.

After lunch we had French with Mrs Oaks. Then we had the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We learnt beans talks come from seeds. We decided to make our own beanstalks.

We wet kitchen roll, Then wrapped our seeds inside. Then put them in a bag to  stick on the doors. With water and sunlight the seeds should grow.

Then we made castles to go in our plant pot.

When the seeds are big enough we will put them in the plant pot to grow up to the castles.
