Mow Cop visit

Dear Parents,

Miss Irwin is trying to organize a trip to Mow Cop on the afternoon of Thursday 14th May, weather permitting. But we need extra helpers.

We require another 3 adults with cars (there can be if more people are willing to help). Unfortunately, we can not accept the help from adults who would want to bring a younger sibling with them, as this would mean you would not be able to care for the children in your groups.

Adults need to be prepared to complete a form saying they have an up to date car insurance and MOT’s. If you are available and wiling to help that day please let Miss Irwin know ASAP. Otherwise the trip will not be able to go ahead.

Thanks

Miss Irwin

Horton Lodge Visit

Next Wednesday 2nd April, Class Jonah are going to visit Charlotte’s sister Rebecca at her school Horton Lodge. We are going to see how she learns and stay for dinner with the children. This is so we get used to how Rebecca learns because soon she will be coming into our classroom once a week, as of next term.

We are all very excited about Rebecca coming as we have met her before and think her wheelchair is very cool.

Our trip will only be a couple of hours and will be within in school time. We are going to make a book of our experience so we can keep a record for ourselves and for Rebecca when she comes.

999 – Ambulance please

On Tuesday morning we were lucky to have Mr Rusbridge come in to visit us. Mr Rusbridge who is a Paramedic brought in his bags with an assortment of things to show us. He talked to us about what a Paramedic was. We told him how we know to phone 999 and to ask for an ambulance if somebody is hurt.

Mr Rusbridge brought some bandages and showed us how to put them on. He also brought some stethoscopes for us to listen to our hearts. He showed us how to listen to our hearts.

Mr Rusbridge also brought with him some neck braces for a child and for an adult and Theo and Miss Kippen demonstrated how they needed to be put on.

Mr Rusbridge then showed us how to put somebody in the recovery position if they weren’t very well and not moving.

We really enjoyed learning about how to help people and what a Paramedic does, lots of us want to be a Paramedic now!

Thank you very much for visiting Mr Rusbridge.
