After a nice half term we all came back excited to see Miss Irwin and our new role-plays. We decided before half term we wanted to learn about hospitals and doctors and nurses. So we now have a few role-plays we can play in. Our construction area has got new bricks and tools and we can’t help but want to use our new hammers and real bricks. Also Percy has brought us some more gardening tools to use as well as seeds and plant pots. Mrs Moore has been in today to help us to plant up some bulbs we can watch grow. 🙂
This week we have started learning to measure using centimetres. We painted our hands and feet and made prints to see measure our them. Then we put them order of smallest to biggest. In our writing this week we have labelled the skeleton we made for our display wall. We have also started to make signs for the toilets. We have enjoyed singing and dancing to the ‘skeleton dance’, you can find it on youtube or on our blog.
Next week we will be learning more about the body, writing super sentences. We will have a few visitors over this week and the next coming weeks; a paramedic, nurse and a midwife.
How can you help at home?
- Reading Tricky words we, he, she, me, be.
- Please practise the new sounds ure (pronounced your) and er.
- Can they write these tricky words I, go, no, the, to.
- We have been learning number sentences. 1+1=2, 2+1=3, 2+2=4, 2+3=5, 3+3=6
We call them our ‘learn its’, because we just have to ‘learn it’. You can practise them at home using a collection of different objects like teddies, buttons, crayons, chocolate buttons-add the 2 groups together and write them as number sentence.
